August 1, 2014 in the Chinese city of Sanya, located on the island of Hainan, opened the world's largest duty-free shop Haitang Bay. On the first day, "Duty Free" was visited by thousands of tourists and local residents.
In the new shopping center there are more than 300 brands, among which, in particular, Prada, Chanel and Rolex. The total area of "Duty Free" was about 92 thousand square meters. The store represents three floors of boutiques with an atrium.
Recall, from 2011 Hainan Island declared a duty-free zone. The Chinese authorities thus expect to delay the part of tourists who are vacationing in Macau and Hong Kong.
The authorities of Sanya report that by February 2014 the volume of duty-free trade on the island was 700 million USD, which is a record. With the introduction of the world's largest "Duty Free", Hainan's income will increase significantly.
