Keo Winery has been known for about 75 years. Previously, he was outside the city, and now he was in the center. It all started with a small company, but for years, Keogh grew and explored new markets, and after about 25 years opened the first large winery: the volume of production of this drink was measured in gallons. As of today, the gallons have turned into hectoliters, and this is the monthly production volume.

You can get to the Keogh plant with an excursion. They pass for free, last about an hour and do without tasting. If you like some wine, then you will definitely be sold it - by the way, the price is much lower than in all shops on the island.

Keo has expanded, now it produces alcoholic beverages - both low-alcoholic, and 40 degrees and higher, fruits and vegetables. The products are exported, Keogh is known both in America and Europe, and in the Middle East. It is noteworthy that it is here that the elite wine "Kommandaria" is produced.

The history of the origin of this famous wine belongs to the era of the Crusades, when in Cyprus in 1210 the command post of the Order of Hospitallers was founded. Initially, the wine was called "Nam", but then changed its name to "Commandaria". Already in 1213 the wine was mentioned in the first wine contest of Europe, and in 1362 participated in the contest "Feast of the Five Kings."

Now the "Commandaria" is used for communion at the Liturgy, hundreds of years ago the wine was highly appreciated. To date, the price of a bottle of this wine is about 30 USD, a variety of grapes used for production is called xynisteri. Grapes are dried in the sun, because of which the juice becomes sweet, and then the wine merges into amphoras, aged for several years. Wine belongs to the category of sweet.

A very informative and interesting excursion, as I do not like, when the guide does not count to talk all the way, but this one liked me for some reason.There is a very interesting and rich history about the plant, and the guy was not very chatty)
