In the coming years, Cyprus will consider the possibility of joining the Schengen zone, such a statement was made last week by Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasulidis.
The official said that at the moment the authorities of the island are engaged in working out a constructive proposal that would interest both sides. In any case, it is not planned to invite observers from the acting member countries of a single visa space until 2017.
Will the alleged innovation affect the volume of the tourist flow from Russia - it is too early to say. Nevertheless, if today Russian tourists arriving to the island can get a local visa directly at the airport, then if they join Cyprus to Schengen they will have to "in the old fashion" to collect and submit documents to the consular missions of the country.
