Berlin International Airport Schönefeld is located near the city of the same name. Basically here, discount airlines are based. Nevertheless, until 1990 Schönefeld was of great importance for the country, since it was the central aero node of the German Democratic Republic and the only airport in East Berlin.
In the 90s the passenger traffic of the aero node dropped sharply, as many airlines moved to a more modern airport Tegel. Schoenefeld began to specialize in charter flights. Today this air harbor helps to travel to tourists who prefer budget air travel.
The airport complex consists of four terminals - A, B, C, D.
How to get here
You can get to the center of Berlin by train, bus or taxi. The most convenient way is to take the S-Bahn train at Flughafen Berlin Schoenefeld station, located near the airport. The train interval is 10 minutes. Trains S9 and S45 run every 20 minutes. The journey takes about 30 minutes. In addition, in half an hour you can reach the central train station of Berlin by train Airport Express.
