Another European city plans to introduce a tourist tax in the near future: after Budva, Lappeenranta and Berlin, to charge an additional fee for visitors guests were thought up by deputies of the Riga City Council.
It is reported that the value of the future rate will be from 1 to 2 EUR per night depending on the class of hotel in which the traveler has stayed. The date of introduction of the tax has not yet been specified, but it is already clear that local law-makers have seriously taken up the control of the urban tourism industry. In particular, next year every guide in the Latvian capital will have to pass certification and get the corresponding certificate
It is also worth recalling that the next tourist tax is planned to be introduced next year by the administration of neighboring Jurmala: the maximum daily payment from travelers in the main Baltic resort will be from 21 euro cents to 1 euro
