The dome of the Dominican Church of the Holy Spirit rises above the Old Town of Vilnius and is an architectural monument of the late Baroque. It was built in 1408, during the reign of the Grand Lithuanian prince Gedeminas in the XIII century.
In the 16th century, was given to the monks of the Dominican order. In the XVIII he suffered a serious fire, which was followed by a significant reconstruction of the monument. The exterior decoration of the church is rather modest, but the interior decoration in the rococo style is amazing. At the same time the monastery is known not only for its external side, but as a massive dungeon in several floors and the largest burial site roughly XVII-XVIII centuries. In addition, it was the Dominican church that was not closed during the Soviet era, following the example of other religious institutions.
