The exposition of the museum of theater, music and cinematography is represented by collections connected with the history of Lithuanian theater, music and cinema. The museum was founded in 1926 on the initiative of writers Balis Sruoga and Vincas Creve at the University of Vytautas Magnus in the city of Kaunas
Of the five departments of the museum: cinema, theater, fine arts, music and library, theatrical is the largest. Here you can see the photos of theatrical productions, scenery, dolls, posters, programs, costumes, personal belongings and documents of famous actresses and actors.
The music department exhibits a unique collection of musical instruments of the 18-20th centuries, among them a mechanical musical instrument, the precursor of a gramophone made by the well-known firm Zimmerman; national instruments of kankles produced by local craftsmen
The cinema department acquaints us with the history of the development of the world and Lithuanian cinematography. Most of the exhibits were received by the museum from the Lithuanian film studio: posters, equipment, photographs, scripts, costumes, sketches of art scenes and costume sketches. In the museum there is a particularly valuable private collection of one of the first Lithuanian cameramen Stepas Uzdonas: ten movie cameras made in 1930-1970 made by the well-known firm Arnold and Richter, a unique copying machine, its documents and personal belongings.
