There are not so many events in the world, the description of which begins with "very much". The Dutch Flower Festival is one of them. It's a holiday that you will see very, very many flowers.
Spring in the Netherlands starts with expectation, and it is not the usual, habitual expectation of the awakening of nature. Local residents and guests of the country are eagerly awaiting how this time their nature will be surprised by the "cooperation" with talented gardeners and flower growers.
On the third Saturday of April, more than fifty cars leave from Noordwijk, carrying on themselves huge flower compositions of the most unexpected shapes and colors. Each sculpture consists of hundreds of thousands of tulips, the favorite colors of the inhabitants of the Netherlands. Sometimes, other species are added to the composition, mainly for flavor enhancement.
Keukenhof is the main site of flower festivals. Each year the park is decorated with complex, perfectly verified flower beds of tulips, and every year a separate nail of the program from some other kind of flowers is added here. Here, for example, lilies and orchids were brought from all over the world, so that connoisseurs could please themselves, without arranging long and expensive trips.
Walking around Keukenhof is a favorite activity for both Dutch and all visiting tourists. Here it is customary to walk leisurely, carefully considering all the details of the landscape, so nowhere in the park will there be bicyclists or roller skaters. There is only one alternative for walking: since 2012, the park management has organized boat trips through canals through numerous tulip fields.
