Is there a metro in Lisbon?
Responses information department of "Tourism Subtlety"
The metro of Lisbon has 52 stations (at the end of 2011), its total length is 34 km. There are only 4 lines in it: the blue Line A (connects Santa Apolónia and Amadora Este stations), the yellow Line B (Rato-Odivelas), the green Line C (Cais do Sodré-Telheiras) and the red Line D (São Sebastião-Oriente). Each of them has its own symbol and name associated with it. The blue line is marked by the gull drawing (Linha da Gaivota), the yellow one by the flower of the sunflower (Linha do Girassol), the green one by the sailboat (Linha da Caravela), the red one by the compass pointing to the east (Linha do Oriente).
Lisbon metro connects the capital with two suburbs, Amadora and Odivelas, the end stations of blue and yellow branches. The station Gare do Oriente (red line) is very important for tourists, as it is integrated with the railway and bus station.
The metro is open from 6:30 to 1:00. Most stations are located in zone L, the most remote in zone A. One trip across the subway network costs 1.25 EUR, in zone L - 1.15 EUR, travel for day - 5. Money for travel is paid and written off from Viva Viagem magnetic card. It is bought for 0.50 EUR and is valid for a year. At the entrance to the metro, you need to pass it through the validator.
