On the island of Tawaira in Portugal you can see an unusual attraction, which was called the "cemetery of anchors" .It represents a small piece of land of rectangular shape, on which the anchors are aligned in straight rows .It is located exactly between the restaurant and the beach of Barril in a rather crowded place .The fact is that the island is quite a popular place among tourists, and therefore along the coastline you can see many cafes, restaurants and bars .Once upon a time there was a fishing base on the island, where they were fishing with tuna and sardines .However, in the late 1960s the base was closed, and Tavair was re-qualified as a recreation area for travelers .Anchors left from fishing vessels that could be found in various parts of the island were collected and placed in one place .So the famous "cemetery" appeared .
