Vnukovo is one of the oldest airports in Moscow. On the one hand, today it is the lowest metropolitan air hub in terms of the number of passengers, on the other - the most important, since Vnukovo serves such VIP customers as the Russian president, members of the government of the country, high-ranking foreign guests. It should be noted that the airport took on such an important function to transport the first persons of the country for a long time - more than 60 years ago.
Vnukovo construction began in 1937 due to the congestion of the already existing airports - Central and Bykovo. During the Great Patriotic War, it served as a military base, and after that it was used for civil transport.

How to get there

This summer I had to fly from Vnukovo to vacation in Ukraine. In this case, I note at once that for myself, my husband and I decided that this was our first and last "bitter" experience of using the services of this airport.

Flied from Vnukovo to St. Petersburg in July 2013 . I do not use airline services so often, I have to fly only on vacation, so all the airports I've always visited were at least crowded, but Vnukovo surprised me . We flew on an early morning flight, so we arrived at 6am, the airport was absolutely empty . Big, completely new, and empty, no passengers, no workers, even strained slightly . Near to the departure time people appeared, but our flight was left alone .Maybe that's why there were no problems with registration and boarding. . Also, in a lonely bite, they had a bite in Burger King (expensive), but the sensations from the empty airport were peculiar . To the airport they took a taxi from the opposite end of Moscow, 1000 rubles, I think the price is quite acceptable; at the price of tickets for aeroexpress of 300 rubles for a family of three people, the taxi is much more comfortable, especially since there are no options at all except the taxi at all .

Vnukovo Airport was just recently completely modernized. A completely new terminal has been built, which, it seems, is still being built. The infrastructure at the airport is good. You can get there by bus, but it's the most comfortable on the Aeroexpress high-speed train from the Kiev railway station of the capital. Personally for me Vnukovo is the most terrible airport I've ever been in, and I've been to many places! First, Transaero Airlines delayed its flight for a couple of hours, so my friend and I were late for the transit flight. To pass passport control, it took half an hour!
