How to get
The distance from the city to Vologda is 243 km, approximately 2, 5-3 hours by private car. It is necessary to go along the A114 highway, get to Sheksna (87 km), then turn to Leontievo (228 km), and from it - to Ustyuzhna (243 km).
From Vologda you can get there by bus (two flights a day) , one bus leaves from St. Petersburg (on the way 9 hours). In addition, buses run from Pestovo station two or three times a day, and from Cherepovets - at least four flights a day.
A bit of history
At one time the city was called Ustyug-Zhelezny because the city was on "iron field "of huge deposits of ore, which has long been used by the local population.
