In 1900, Eusebi Güell bought 62 hectares of land on the outskirts of Barcelona to create a garden city, which was very popular in the late 19th century .The creation of the infrastructure was to be undertaken by Gaudi .Land Güell cut into 62 plots and tried to sell for private mansions .The project was unsuccessful, only two plots were bought: those who could buy land were not attracted by the desert outskirts, and those who would have agreed to live on the outskirts did not have enough funds .One of the houses belonged to the great Spanish architect Gaudi, he lived here for about 20 years, here now his museum is located .

The stories of Park Güell
In 1901, work began on the creation of a park on this land. They were conducted in three stages: first, the slopes of the hill were strengthened and equipped, then access roads were built, walls and entrance pavilions were built, and at the final stage, several houses were planned to be built on the sites sold and a famous twisting parapet bench was built around the huge terrace area . The material for the design of the bench was collected by all the workers of all the construction sites that Gaudi was engaged at that time.
In other words, the first ever collage of virtually garbage was created, which later inspired many outstanding architects to create masterpieces.
The architecture and rich imagination of Gaudi in Park Güell
No less than the famous bench, the pestle and the mosaic lizard, the symbol of Barcelona, is magnificent in its variegated color. Admire (and, perhaps, be inspired by creativity) it can be in the same park of Güell. Fantastically it looks like an entrance to the park, on each side of which there are two gingerbread houses of such fantastic architecture that they should be seen with their own eyes, so as not to be forgotten in life.
In the hillside there is a hall decorated with 86 columns. And here were useful fragments, this time bright blue, from bottles for rose water - Gaudi very much liked this color. Shards of the vaults are laid out, which has excellent acoustics and is often used by musicians. The last thing I managed to do in Gaudi Park is to build a complex system of roads and paths, so it's nice to wander in the shade of trees.

Park GuellJanuary 27, 2015
And .... To be honest, I was disappointed. The usual park is ordinary trees, yes it is located on the mountain. gingerbread houses are beautiful but there are only two of them, but I thought a lot of them and one is now on restoration. Yes, the unusual in the park are columns of which turned out beautiful avenues. Walking through the park there was some feeling of abandonment, and where the entrance for money to the site with the mosaic this feeling was lost. Of course the walk left pleasant feelings but I expected more from the park.
