10 things to do in Alanya
  1. To come to the cave of Dim, which is high in the mountains, right to the opening, before the arrival of organized groups: wander among the stalagmites and stalactites, scare the bats, all alone.
  2. After visiting the Alanya fortress - the main local attraction - go down the road, winding down the mountain, on foot, admiring the picturesque views and dilapidated houses.
  3. Combine the useful with the pleasant: work out on the simulators along the embankment, looking at the endlessly beautiful sea.
  4. Explore on what day of the week in your area a bustling street bazaar unfolds: to purchase juicy fruits, aromatic oriental spices and inexpensive clothing.
  5. At least one evening break out of the shackles of "ol inclusive" and enjoy a variety of kebabs, pides and sweets in one of the many cozy cafes in the city center.
  6. Ride by boat along an unpretentious route around the peninsula (the one on which the fortress) is projecting into the sea: to listen to stories about pirates and unlucky lovers hiding once in the local caves.
  7. After sunset, go to the port - the most "tusovochnomu" place of the resort.
  8. Take a bicycle for rent on the street parking lot (a credit card will be needed) and ride along the embankment stretching several kilometers from the peninsula towards Gazipasa.
  9. Go up to the Red Tower (Kyzyl-kule), not forgetting to inspect the museum exposition located on the first floor.
  10. To allocate half a day for visiting Aspendos and the Manavgat waterfall (halfway to Antalya), it is most convenient to travel on a rented car.

Museums of Alanya

Of interest to museums is an ethnographic museum located in the tower of Kyzyl-Kul or the Red Tower (Kizil Kule), which protected the old times the harbor, and the Alanya archaeological museum with the rarest floor mosaics, dated 2 at .ad.The red tower, dating from the 13th century, is considered a symbol and the main attraction of the city, depicted on a banknote of a Turkish lira with a value of 250 thousand .in 1992-2005 ., and also perpetuated on the flag of Alanya .The tower is an octagonal structure of red brick, the color of which gave the name of the tower, and is 33 meters in height and 29 meters in diameter .The museum exposition is presented on the first floor of the tower, while on the other four floors one can climb the stone steps .The tower is open to visitors from 09:00 to 19:00 from April to October, from 08:00 to 17:00 from November to March .

Another interesting museum is dedicated to the Ottoman and Turkish reformers and the policy of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The house in which Ataturk stayed in February 1935 was open to the public as a museum in 1986. The exposition of the museum house is represented by Ataturk's personal belongings, his photographs, historical documents and telegrams addressed to the people of Alanya.

The piratical past of Alanya still brings profit to the city - only now pastichest peasants are shaken off by frightened merchants, but by curious tourists, going on sea excursions to the grottoes and caves that once served as refuge for filibusters.
