Built in the early twentieth century, this famous skyscraper is still on the list of the fifty most high-rise buildings in America. Its height is 241 meters, and the number of floors is fifty seven.

The Woolworth Building rises on Broadway between Park Place and Barclay Street. The building was built by the order of American businessman Frank Woolworth architect Cass Gilbert in the Gothic style. At the time of completion, this tower was the tallest building in New York, and one of the most unusual.

Mosaics, gilding and frescoes all suggest associations with the temple. It is no accident that this tower was nicknamed the "Cathedral of Trade."
Outwardly, the skyscraper is similar to the Gothic cathedrals, not only by its outline, but also by the rich, rich terracotta lining of the building, and its tower, towering skyward, is decorated with gargoyles and lace pattern.

The interior of the skyscraper also refers us to the medieval European Gothic. For example, we can see stylized sculptures of the master or architect of the Woolworth Building. Mosaics, gilding and frescoes all suggest associations with the temple. It is no accident that this tower was nicknamed the "Cathedral of Trade."

The tower belonged to Woolworth and his company until 1998, when it was sold to the company "Vitkoff Group". After the terrorist attack on September 11, access of tourists to some rooms of artistic and historical value is now closed. Now the building houses offices of various companies and educational institutions.

Although the building is very remarkable, strictly speaking, that's why it fell into my photo album. My friend and I came to the park, and next to it I saw a very tall building, which, as it turned out, is called the Woolworth Building and is one of the main attractions of the city! The building is on Broadway, which is not surprising, since ... Read full review
