After the Cuban authorities approved the new migration law, the locals en masse

The legislative act allowing citizens of Cuba to travel abroad without prior approval from the migration authorities came into force in January of this year, and since that time more than 180,000 local residents have had time to visit in traveling abroad. "The number of Cuban tourists traveling abroad is growing at an incredible rate," commented Lamberto Fraga, deputy director of the Immigration Department of the country.

In addition to the possibility of unhindered travel of ordinary people abroad, the new law solved another long overdue problem: from now on Cuban emigrants will be able to return to their native country at will. It should be reminded that earlier any Cuban citizen who left the island for political reasons had no right to return.
