Nissi Beach, Cyprus

During an extraordinary meeting of the Eurogroup it was decided that the authorities of Cyprus will write off a one-time tax from all bank deposits in the country, and in return receive financial assistance from international creditors, RIA Novosti reported. With deposits less than 100 thousand EUR will be written off 6, 75%, with deposits of more than 100 thousand euros - 9, 9%. Investors will receive a corresponding share in the bank capital corresponding to the written-off amounts.

In connection with the introduction of the tax, huge queues lined up at the ATMs, and the amount that can be cashed in them has decreased to 200 EUR. Nevertheless, for tourists planning a trip to Cyprus, this should not cause any inconvenience, as the country has developed a system of non-cash payments.
