The island state of Cyprus welcomes tourists from all over the world. The annual number of visitors is many times greater than the number of Cypriots permanently residing on the island and people who have business relations with Cyprus. It is worth noting that Cyprus has the lowest taxes in Europe, so it is not surprising that the island has long become a serious business center.

Currently there are seven airports in Cyprus, most of which serve civil aviation all year round. Almost all air terminals, including two international airports, are located in the relatively large resort towns of Greek Cyprus.

The largest airports in Cyprus:

  • Larnaca
  • Paphos

Larnaca Airport

The largest southern airport is majestically located in Larnaca on hundred thousand square meters. The current airport in Larnaca is relatively young, its construction was completed in 2009. The new airport was four times larger than its predecessor, the airport terminal built in 1975. Today, most regular flights are carried out through the airport of Larnaca. During the year, Cyprus's largest international airport can accommodate up to 7.5 million passengers.

In just 15 minutes by car from Larnaca Airport you can reach the resorts of Ayia Napa and Limassol, located about 5 kilometers away. By the way, we advise you to use taxi services, as the services of local carriers will cost you much less (0, 55 EUR per kilometer) than paying for an individual transfer.

In addition, you can go directly from the airport to drive a car rented . To do this, you will need to use the services of one of the two services that provide cars for rent, Avis or Eurocar. The rental day will cost you about 25-60 EUR, depending on the time period for which you rent a car, the car and the season,

Paphos Airport

The second international airport under the Greek sky is Paphos Airport, located 16 km from the resort. It is not as big as in Larnaca, and it differs significantly in passenger traffic, but the service is no worse. The airport in Paphos has a developed infrastructure: on its territory are shops, catering places, ATMs, car rental companies. Mainly, charter flights are carried out via Paphos airport

Erdzhan Airport

The Turkish north also did not remain without air communication with the big earth: in the northern part of Cyprus there are two airports, one of which is in the city of Ercan, or in another Ercan , which is located northeast of Nicosia. As a peculiarity of this airport, it can be noted that passengers are forced to walk from the airplane to the terminal, and so the airport terminal is quite nice.

If you have planned a trip to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, then you must fly through Turkey . However, if you are not going to stay in Antalya or Istanbul for a long time, you do not have to do a Turkish visa, and your luggage will be delivered directly to Ercan. When passing the border control, we advise you to ask the border guard to stamp it on a special form, and not directly on the passport. This will save you in the future from problems in obtaining the Greek Schengen

Other airports

Think about Cyprus airports, it will not be superfluous to mention two other airports, which, however, are located not in the Greek part of the island and not in the Turkish. These air terminals are located in the overseas territories of British military bases. One airport is in Akrotiri, south of Limassol, the other in Dhekelia, north-east of Larnaca. For civil aviation, these airports are not used, they function only for military purposes
