October 1, 2014, the Finnish Tampere celebrates its 239th Birthday. In connection with the holiday, the authorities of one of the largest cities in the country decided to make museum entrances free on weekends on October 4 and 5.
Open doors also suit the administrative buildings, churches and cultural centers of Tampere. Shops will offer discounts on their goods, and minibuses will transport local residents and tourists to major attractions for free.
In addition, specially in honor of the holiday, Pyynikki lookout tower will work longer, from 9:00 to 20:00. Also specially for tourists from Russia it is planned to organize free excursions, during which guides will tell about Russian places in Tampere. Pedestrian excursions will start on October 4 and 5 at 12:30 from the fountain near the Museum of Lenin. The duration of free excursions is 1, 5 hours.
