Humayun's Tomb - the amazing beauty of the mausoleum of one of the Great Moguls, padishah Humayun, located in the heart of the country - Delhi .The tomb was built by the order of the widow of the padishah Hamida Banu Begum in 1562 .(For reference: her husband, Humayun - the second emperor of the Great Mogul dynasty, gave his whole life for the annexation of Northern India to his possessions .) The construction lasted 8 years, the architects of the project are Said Muhammad and his father Mirak Giyakhuddin .There is an opinion that the architecture of the burial vault was strongly influenced by the infatuation of the son and father by the Samarkand constructions of Timuridov .
If you believe the legend, the death of the padishah was rather strange, but extremely interesting. It is said that Humayun was an educated person, honored science, especially astronomy and astrology. Once, returning from his library with a large stack of books, he heard a call to prayer - azan. Humayun did not want to throw the books, so he tried to kneel without letting the pile out of his hands. Confused in the floor of a long robe, rolled down the stairs and soon died of the injuries received.
Despite its not a very life-affirming destination, the tomb should not be overlooked - it is truly one of the most grandiose and majestic sights of Delhi. A fine example of early Mughal architecture, it is considered the prototype of the Taj Mahal.
The cost of visiting: 250 rupees, video 25 rupees. Opening hours: from dawn to dusk. The journey from the center of Delhi by taxi or rishke to Humayun's tomb will cost 100-150 rupees.
