The world is always divided into two: black and white, men and women, good and evil, living and dead, and so on ad infinitum. It seems that in no other city the idea of binary is expressed as much as in Dharamsala, the center of world Buddhism and the residence of the Dalai Lama

On the edge
The city is located in India, in the north of the state of Himachal -Pradesh . The dual symbolism of the city was reflected even in its geographical position: Dharamsala is located just on the boundary of a tectonic fault, that is, one part of the city is located on one tectonic plate, and the second - to another . In 1905 it turned into a terrible tragedy : as a result of the motion of the plates, a terrible earthquake occurred, and which killed about 20 000 people . In Dharamsala and now there are weak earthquakes, but human casualties for them have long been absent .
The city has long been associated with Buddhism and Hinduism, and after the colonization of India by Britain this place was very popular with the English . Here the Tibetan temples and monasteries adjoin the Hindu buildings . After his Holiness the Dalai Lama of Tibet moved to Dharamsala in 1959 at the invitation of J . Nehru, after , as China invaded the capital of Tibet, Lhasa, this place again hundred lolnitsya visitors and refugees from Tibet and tourists from all over the world . What attracts them? A unique Tibetan culture that has been transferred to India .

Entertainment , excursions and sights of Dharamsala
In the city not only can you book an excursion, as every good tourist does, but also get acquainted with the Tibetans, their life, customs and culture. Duality, which was mentioned in the beginning, is expressed in the planning of the city. Dharamsala is divided into two parts: the lower one, which houses courts, government bodies and the eastern bazaar (local call it Kotwali bazar), and the upper one, where MacLeod Ganj and Forsyth Gan are located.
McLeod Ganj
