The city of Jodhpur, located in the middle of the Tar desert, is part of the state of Rajasthan. For the blue color of the houses it is often referred to as the "Blue City". Jodhpur was founded in 1459 by Rao Jodha, the chief of the Rathur clan. The kingdom of Rathur was once known as Marwar ("the land of death"). How to get to Jodhpur
Jodhpur Airport operates flights from Delhi and Bombay with a transfer in Jaipur and Udaipur, respectively. Express trains depart daily from Jaisalmer (Jodhpur-Jaisalmer Express), Delhi (Mandore Express), Jaipur (Intercity Express).

The fortress Mehrangarh, located on the rocks of Marvara, is connected with Jodhpur by a road 5 km in length. Mehrangarh is surrounded by a multi-kilometer wall, and on its territory there are palaces and temples. On the road leading to the fortress, there is Jasvan Thada with the tombs of the former princes of the city.
