Add a review about the Museum on the water at Lake Ohrid

About 3 thousand . years ago on the peninsula Gradishte in Ohrid Lake there was a small fishing village . It stood directly on the water, on a high wooden deck about 20 m from the shore . "Wooden Island" connected to the land with a strong drawbridge . The rows of small wooden houses were built on top of the deck . Lived in the settlement not all-the-year-round, but only in the summer . Mention of the ancient fishing village can be found in the essays of the famous ancient Greek philosopher Herodotus . He wrote, then at that time in the Ohrid Lake vodilos many fish that it scraped out of the water almost buckets .

The Museum on the water, there are about a dozen houses equipped with traditional thatched roofs. Inside the houses everything looks about the same as, in the opinion of researchers, it looked in prehistoric times. In the interiors you can find animal skins, weaving looms, cradles, household utensils.

Traces of an ancient settlement were first discovered in 1997 at the bottom of the lake. Along with the decking, the bridge and houses, there were also found evidence of human life: wreckage, fishing gear, remains of skeletons of cattle. The find was so rich and unique that it was decided to create a museum from the existing settlement remains.

Now you can see the recreated "floating settlement" in the Gulf on bones (this is the place on the Ohrid lake where the settlement was found) exactly imitating the ancient fishing village.
