Submit feedback about Gran Bassin

Many pilgrims during the holiday "Shiva night" are on their way to the sacred Hindu temple of Grand Bassen ("Great reservoir"), next to which glistens the ancient lake where the fairies bathed, according to the stories of local residents.

The waters of this lake are considered sacred, as are the Ganges waters.

The entrance to the temple is guarded by a statue of the bull of Lord Shiva, as well as the figure of the god Anuamang on a hill. In the neighborhood there is the village of Chamarel, famous for its stormy waterfalls and the phenomenon of the "colorful land" of sugar plantations in Bel-Ombr.
