The West Coast may well compete with the resorts of northern Mauritius, not only for the quality of beaches, but also for the number of entertainments. Here are some of the best resorts on the entire island: Flic-en-Flac, Volmar, Tahmarin Bay and Morne. This is where divers and surfers from all over the world seek. Riviere Noir is a unique place for fishing.

However, not all local beauties are connected with water: in the west there are famous "colored lands", the Chamarel waterfall and just two national parks: Yemeni and "Gorges" Black River. "

Beaches on the west coast of Mauritius

The town of Flic en Flac opens a line of chic sandy beaches that stretch south to the Morne peninsula . Infrastructure resort is developed on "five with plus", because of what, according to some, modern Flick-an-Flack lost a fair share of its former charm . But today tourists do not have any problems With the choice of a hotel, a restaurant, a rental office or a souvenir shop: here all this is presented in abundance . Yes, and the quality of the beaches of urbanization has not been affected at all - they guarantee all the same "paradisiacal" and serene pastime . In the center of the resort , the so-called Pasadena Village, there is a post office, an ATM, a huge supermarket SPAR and a travel agency (working hours: Mon-Sat 9: 00-17: 00) . On the beach of Flic-en-Flac, you can freeze a worm in snack bars offering sandwiches, fruits, drinks and other simple food . It's worth eating at a restaurant x at hotels - high-level nutrient institutions outside the hotels practically no . For "high cuisine" we recommend to go to Volmar .

Bay Tamarin - more wild and pristine than other areas of the coast. Because of the strong currents swimming in it is not safe, but for surfers is a paradise.

Wolmar is considered a suburb of Flic en Flac. There are the best and most expensive hotels in this area.

Baie du Tamarin - more wild and pristine than other parts of the coast. Because of the strong currents swimming in it is not safe, but for surfers is a paradise. A couple of kilometers from the bay there is the picturesque town of La Preneuse with the interesting Martello Tower museum, telling about the battle of local planters with the English in the 1830s.

The low mountain Morne-Brabant (556 m), visible practically from any point on the southern coast of Mauritius, gave the name to the picturesque peninsula, which today is considered one of the best resorts in Mauritius. Morn is four kilometers of sandy beaches, high-class hotels and one of the island's most famous diving centers, the Mistral Club.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions on the west coast of Mauritius

A kilometer away from Flic en Flac is the Casela Natural Park, where monkeys, tigers, zebras and over 1500 birds live. From there, they arrange a jeep safari to the Yemen park, where you can see wild boars, deer, monkeys and bats in their natural habitat.

Colorful lands Shamarel

Chamarel colored lands (entrance 75 MUR, park 7 : 00-17: 30) have long been one of the symbols of Mauritius. And not in vain: they are amazingly beautiful. To talk about the long process of soil erosion or botanical diversity of these places does not make sense, it is only worth mentioning that a hundred-meter-high waterfall Chamarel, located 3 km from the entrance to the park, is an obligatory stop for tourists to "snap" photos.

Diving on the western Mauritius coast

There are several diving centers in the Flic en Flaca area (among them the popular Ticabo and Apnealogy) offer training in PADI and SMAC programs, as well as the organization of dives for divers with experience . There are more than 40 interest and various places for diving . Say, Rampart Serpent is suitable only for experienced divers . This is a twisting shaft 100 m long at 25 m depth, very much like a large snake on top . There are a lot of tropical fish here, including including a fish-stone and moray eels . A nearby dive site Le Cathedrale ("Cathedral", 22 m) - two steep cliffs with crevices, grottoes and a huge open cave with gloomy arches that resemble a temple . These two sites - the most popular on the coast, there are always a lot of people . Nearby Manioc and Couline Bambou no less interesting, but the public there is much less .

There are near Flick-en-Flac and a pair of races: Kei Sei 113 at a depth of 35 m, and also Tug II, which is suitable for beginners, as it lies on the sand at a depth of only 20 m.

On the coast at the peninsula of Morne, divers also have something to profit from: these are the sites of Passe St. Jacques ("Saint-Jacques Strait"), Caisers, Needle Hole and Castle ("Castle").
