On the bank of the river Tuul, which is 54 km east of Ulan Bator, stands a majestic forty-meter statue of Chinggiskhan, sitting on the horse - the highest equestrian statue in the world. Around it 36 columns are installed, symbolizing 36 khans, who headed Mongolia after Genghis Khan.
There is no person in the world who does not hear this name of the brutal Mongol conqueror who conquered a huge part of the world in the 13th century; A warrior who sowed devastation and death around himself. But not everyone knows the important role played by Genghis Khan in the fate of Mongolia, as he was the founder of the Mongolian Empire, the colossal of which humanity did not know in its entire history.
The statue of Genghis Khan is considered one of the nine wonders of Mongolia and the main symbol of the state. For the entire Mongolian people this monument is of great importance, because for him Genghis Khan is the person from whom the history of the nation begins.
The monument to Genghis Khan is more than just a statue. It is installed on a circular base with a diameter of 30 meters and a height of 10 m. Plus, the equestrian statue itself is hollow and consists of two floors. Inside the complex there are several interesting objects that are definitely worth a visit. The pedestal housed a historical museum dedicated to the Mongolian khans; A huge map on which you can trace all the conquests of the great Genghis Khan; art Gallery; conference hall; several restaurants; a hall for playing billiards; souvenir shop.
The opening of the monument, which took 250 tons of stainless steel, took place in 2008 after three years of construction. Today, the statue of Genghis Khan is one of the most popular sights of Mongolia.
The place where the huge steel Genghis Khan rises on the hill has its own history connected with the great warrior .According to legend, it is here that the history of the Mongol Empire as a whole begins .In 1177 g .young Temuujin, who in the future took the name of Genghis Khan, discovered on the top of the hill a golden whip, which symbolized good luck .For Temujugin this find was a sign that the gods favor him in realizing the dream of uniting the Mongols dispersed around the nomadic tribes .He fulfilled his plan: in 1206 g .his forces formed the Great Mongol Empire, and a copy of the glorified golden whip and today can be seen inside the base of the statue .
In addition to the whip in the tourist complex, the visitor is invited to taste dishes based on traditional Mongolian recipes, play a game of billiards or climb the elevator to the observation deck located in the head of Genghis Khan's horse. From there, from a height of thirty meters, you can see stunning views of the mountains and plains, the endless fascinating Mongol steppes. This panorama is especially beautiful in the spring, when tulips bloom everywhere.
Today, around the statue of Genghis Khan, the theme park of the same name is dedicated to the era of his rule and the peculiarities of the life of the Mongolian people in those days .There is also a version that the future cultural and historical complex will be called "Golden Whip" .The park is planned to be divided into six parts: a camp of soldiers, a camp of artisans, a settlement of shamans, a yurt of the khan, a camp of cattlemen and an educational camp .It is also planned to decorate the park with an artificial lake and break up the theater in the open air .The total estimated area of the park is 212 hectares .

The statue of Genghis Khan is located 54 km from Ulan Bator. Excursion buses run here. Independently you can get only by car or taxi (600 MNT per km). The cost of visiting the complex is 700 MNT.
