Perhaps the best hotel offers in Essaouira are the hostels in the Old Town, otherwise known as the maisons d'hôte. Standing inside the walls of Medina, they combine exotic Moroccan, reasonable prices and good service. However, the suggestions here can be found on any wallet.

Unlike other cities in Morocco, in Medina Essaouira time did not stop: in addition to the old attractions there are restaurants and clubs, the streets are mostly pedestrian and, moreover, it is very close to the magnificent beaches that the resort is so famous for. The standard of the housing offered here is pretty good at a reasonable price.

However, here there is an alternative: outside Medina (Old Town) you can stay in the suburb of Essaouira, called Quartier des Dunes or "Quarter Dune". Here are more familiar hotels with swimming pools, additional services for traveling families, etc. The only inconvenience - to the city about 15 minutes along the beach. However, this walk can be very pleasant!

At the entrance to Medina, especially from Bab Marrakech and Bab Sbâa you will be met by noisy flocks of boy-porters. For a very modest fee (from 20dh to 50dh) they will offer to carry your luggage (remember, Medina is a pedestrian, no taxi!). Do not neglect such a small waste, especially if you are going to view several hotel deals before the accommodation.

Seasonality

The peak tourist season in Essaouira comes in the summer: in July and August here is the best weather, and in June, in addition to the gorgeous beach holidays, the Gnaoua & World Music Festival is held here. In addition, this resort is a success during the Christmas and New Year holidays. During these periods it is better to book hotel rooms in advance.

Special features of accommodation in hotels Essaouira

Winter months from November to February can be extremely cold, so the main criterion for choosing a hotel in Essaouira should be the availability of heating. For example, in many very cozy and atmospheric pensions in Medina such a service is not available - such maisons d'hôte are good only in the summer. In addition, dampness is a fairly frequent companion of old houses, it is also worth considering.
