The tourist tax continues the "triumphant procession" around the world: after several European cities, the authorities of Morocco intended to charge an additional fee for travelers.

Beginning on April 1 of the next year, guests of the North African state will deduct from 100 to 400 Dhs (9 and 36 EUR respectively) to the local treasury, depending on the chosen class of service on the flight. This amount must be paid at the airport before the return flight from Morocco. At the same time, the Minister of Tourism, who announced a new tariff, did not provide any clarifications regarding travelers arriving in the country by sea (for example, on cruise liners).

According to preliminary estimates, the future tourist tax will allow the government to additionally raise up to 90 million EUR annually. This amount will go to promote the Moroccan direction in the global tourism market, as well as to develop local infrastructure.

Recall that Morocco is a visa-free destination for Russian citizens.
