Despite all attempts by the government of Nepal to streamline the activities of the companies of the local tourism sector, numerous illegal travel agencies continue to operate in the country. In connection with the current situation, the Nepalese Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has begun a massive inspection of all travel agencies for the existence of a corresponding license.
It is worthwhile to clarify that the Ministry is not the first time organizing such a "raid" in search of dishonest tourist and hotel operators who do not want to legalize commercial activities . Therefore, tourism specialists doubt the success of the new campaign, as the state's penalties are insufficient are effective . Nevertheless, before the inspection began, the Ministry published an open letter to illegal workers in the tourism industry with a request to register their own companies or to voluntarily stop work .
The fine for illegal commercial activities in the field of tourism is currently only 20 000 Nepalese rupees (8,000 rubles). It is reported that during the last similar inspection only 62 of 50 travel agencies worked legally.
