Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is considered the most famous medieval village in Norway. For 400 years, the Bryggen quarter was under the control of the Hanseatic merchants. Here is the Museum of the Hanseatic League, as well as preserved Schöststüne - the halls of the Hanseatic assembly.
