If you are in Antalya, it's time to delve into the history of Turkey and visit the Archaeological Museum, where in the pleasant coolness of the air-conditioned room you can wait out the midday heat, simultaneously acquainted not only with the culture and way of life of the ancestors of today's Turks, densely employed in the tourism industry, but also with the evolution of life on our planet.

The history of the museum of Antalya began back in the very beginning of the 20th century, but it was opened for visits only in 1985. Now the museum of Antalya covers an area of ​​7 square meters. km and has thirteen rooms, each dedicated to a specific theme, and an open-air gallery.

The sculptures in the Gallery of the Gods remind of ancient myths, the tombs with skeletons and kitchen utensils show the customs of burial, the ethnographic hall is full of clothes, ornaments, old tools and objects of everyday life. There is also the Imperial Hall, and the museum's collection contains countless coins, icons, church utensils and much, much more. In the Museum of Antalya there is even a children's room with toys, piggy banks and drawings. Here you can draw a teaching picture and give it to the museum.

Practical information

The Museum of Antalya is located on the mountain, in the Konyaalti district, in the western part of the city. Take the bus to the final stop and you will not be mistaken - the entrance to the museum is visible from a distance, since some of the exhibits are located on the street. If you decide to walk on foot, then the guide will be a Turkish flag of large size and a tram stop. Well, and a taxi, of course, as a way to get to your destination quickly and with a breeze, too, no one has canceled.

The entrance ticket will cost 15 lire, and for 5 lira you can take an audio guide (there is a Russian version).

In fact, I do not really like going to museums. But I wanted to visit the Archaeological Museum of Antalya. It was I who dragged my family there and did not regret it for a minute. The museum will please both adults and children.
Particularly impressed by the halls of the Roman era. Before us stood statues, moreover, the originals, which I saw in the pictures in the history books. It is amazing how skillful were the ancient masters in the processing of marble. Hair, clothes, some ornaments are made so thin.
