Expert Reviews of Tromso Hotels

 Tromso Hotels
Tonkosci
Tromsø is located outside the Arctic Circle, among the fjords and mountains. The latter protect it from the severe winds from Lapland and make it quite lively - this is the eighth largest city in Norway. The tourists here are primarily attracted by the harsh nature of Norway, the majestic fjords, excellent fishing, and the Scandinavian dimension

Options for accommodation in Tromsø

Those who want to settle directly in the city center should be prepared for a somewhat overpriced compared to other Norwegian cities with hotel prices. The reason is simple: since Tromso is a busy business center, most hotels try to comply with the business-class standards both in service and interiors, and in the price tag.

Tourists should know that there is no traditional star rating rating system in Norway. Most hotels correspond to the level of three-star hotels. As a rule, these are well-furnished rooms with bathrooms. For breakfast, guests are invited to a rich buffet.

At the same time, there are no five-star hotels, boutique hotels and SPA-hotels that are usual for tourist centers. Even the fashion for the historical hotels spread in Norway in old houses, restored and converted to modern hotels, bypassed Tromso side. But the service here is always at the highest level, the staff in the hotel of any class is friendly and hospitable.

Double rooms in the middle of the week will cost the travelers an average of 1200 CZK (€ 165). However, on weekends, in the winter and at the end of summer, when there is a decline in business activity, guests are offered discounts. If in the "high season" the distinction between business and economy class numbers is quite significant, then on the days of discounts the difference in the payment is reduced.

For those who want to fully enjoy Norwegian beauties, we recommend paying special attention to accommodation outside the city: in boarding houses, camping grounds or guest houses.

In the suburbs of Tromsø and on the Lüngen peninsula, many attractive countryside hotels, guesthouses, campsites, and traditional fishing cabins Rorbu ("robo"), decorated according to modern hotel standards, but still retaining the flavor of a real fishing haven, await tourists. In addition, here at any time of the year you can easily rent a country house or apartments.

Stopped in the countryside, fishing gear, boats and bicycles are often rented together with accommodation. Tourists are organized horseback riding, local cafes and restaurants (and often hosts of guest houses) are invited to try local cuisine, to buy handicrafts.

When is the best time to come to Tromsø?

The most busy time in Troms is in June, during the Midnight Sun Marathon week-end, the festival summer solstice marathon, a Norwegian-acclaimed holiday celebrated at the solstice closest to the day of solstice.

Slightly less Tromso in January, in days of the film festival. But all winter months except for festival days in hotels there are discounts of "low season."

From September to November and in March-April there is a peak of business activity with the arrival of numerous delegations, while the weather does not always help on foot, horse and sea walks of ordinary tourists. However, even these months there are regular discounts for the weekend, when business-class hotels are empty.

Meanwhile, in July and especially August, the coast is quite deserted. This is a great time to visit Tromsø for a quiet, measured rest. Also on these days, there are many summer discounts for accommodation.

On the eve of the Easter week and Easter itself, on a long weekend for Ascension (from Thursday to Monday) and for a week after the Trinity, the flow of tourists is declining, although on these days it usually has a wonderful weather. At this time in addition to a wonderful holiday, a traditional bonus for accommodation will be a pleasant bonus.
