The status of the city of Swidnica, which in the Lower Silesian Voivodeship of Poland, was received in 1290. But before that, it already had walls and six gates, some handicraft workshops and, as usual, trade. By 1471 there were 47 trade guilds, more than 300 breweries, there were constantly fairs. And in 1526 the whole of Silesia passed under the rule of the Habsburgs, was devastated by wars and frequent changes of rulers, eventually became part of Prussia and only after World War II again became Poland's.

It will be interesting to see the Museum of the Silesian Trade, which operates on weekends from 11.00 to 17.00, and on weekdays from 10.00 to 15.00. The exposition acquaints visitors not only with the history of trade development in Silesia, but also shows how the crafts developed.
Nearby (10 km to the north-west) from Swidnica, in Jaworzyn, is the largest museum of locomotives in Poland. Its exposition illustrates the history of the development of railway transport in Poland and allows us to inspect in detail various locomotives.
