Interesting is the tomb of Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, which is in the ruins of an ancient fort in 1670 just west of the resort. Nearby is a chapel, dating from the same years as the fort. It is worth taking a stroll to the lighthouse of Alfazima, which was built in 1920 at Cape Alfazima.
