The National Museum of Ancient Art in Lisbon is the largest gallery in Portugal, where thousands of paintings, sculptures, jewelry and even antique furniture from the 14th to 19th centuries are collected. The museum's rich collection includes paintings by such famous artists as Albrecht Durer, Hieronymus Bosch, Raphael, Diego Velasquez and other painters whose names are familiar to many, even art-far tourists.
The exposition of the National Museum of Old Art is distributed on the floors. At the first level are mainly works of European artists. On the second floor are works of art brought from Africa and Asia, dating back to the Middle Ages. The third level of the museum complex is completely given under the exhibition of works by Portuguese painters.
Especially popular among tourists visiting the National Museum of Old Art, enjoys the legendary exhibit - the painting of Hieronymus Bosch "The Temptation of Saint Anthony". It is curious that initially the museum was assigned to the monastery of St. Francis, and when the collection became very large, a separate building was built for it. By the way, it happened only in the late 90s of the last century.
Since then, the National Museum of Ancient Art is a favorite place among tourists. Almost all guests of the Portuguese capital come here.
