Bolshaya Pokrovskaya - the main street of Nizhny Novgorod, it connects the area of Minin and Pozharsky with the area of Liadov. The main one in the city of Bolshaya Pokrovskaya became in the end of the 18th century, before the revolution the street was considered noble, mere mortals had nothing to do here.
Its name was given in honor of the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin. In general, there are many interesting things. Whether a joke, the street lasts for more than two kilometers, of which the greater part is pedestrian, closed to motor transport.
On the street there are remarkable monuments of architecture. For example, the House of Trade Unions, built in the style of the French Baroque. The former building of the Upper-Posad Chamber of Commerce with busts of Tolstoy, Pushkin and Dostoevsky. Salon of art crafts, where you can buy intricate handmade items. Finally, the puppet theater and the Drama Theater named after Alexei Gorky.
Great Pokrovskaya looks great in the evening with the light of the street lamps. Walking leisurely, you can make such a trip: along the street, then to the Kremlin and up to Chkalovskaya stairs.
