The house preserved the situation in 1910 - the last year of the writer's life. All items in the house - personal belongings, paintings, books - are genuine, they belonged to the writer and his family. The house does not store the entire library of Tolstoy, but those books that are, can not be scrolled, it is forbidden to touch them with decrepitude. In the writer's study, you can see a table made of Persian walnut, covered with green cloth, behind which Leo Nikolayevich created his immortal works.
Volkonsky House
The Volkonsky House is the oldest building in the estate. It is assumed that the writer's grandfather lived for some time in this house. Prince Nikolai S. Volkonsky undertook a radical reconstruction, thanks to which the estate acquired its present appearance. Leo Tolstoy admired the aesthetic sense of his grandfather. When he was in the house, the servants lived, there was a laundry and a "black kitchen".
Kuzminskih outhouse
This wing is the only preserved part of the architectural ensemble, consisting of the Great House, in which the writer was born, and two outbuildings. In the wing for 3 years there was a school for peasant children, opened by Tolstoy, and later there often lived visitors. Remaining memorial exhibitions are now taking place in the wing.
Stable
In Yasnaya Polyana stable there are about 30 horses, the equestrian club "Yasnaya Polyana" operates at the museum. There is a possibility to ride, in a sleigh and crew, to visit a horse riding tour.
Prešpekt
Birch Alley, which leads from the entrance towers to the writer's house, is not once mentioned in the writer's works. The trees that adorn her today were planted in 1965 instead of fir trees, which were planted in place of the old birches by Sofya Andreevna - the wife of Tolstoy.
Ponds
To the left of Preshpekt there is a large pond with a bath on the shore, and on the right side there is an English park with a cascade of three small ponds, a swimming pool was set up in the middle pond in the 90s.
Favorite bench of Leo Tolstoy
The bench is in spruce plantations and was built at the request of Lev Nikolaevich. It is known that on it he liked to rest after walking on the outskirts, to reflect in silence and tranquility.
The grave of Leo Tolstoy
The writer's grave is in the Old Order Forest, on the edge of the ravine, in the very place where Tolstoy himself asked to bury him. Above the grave a small mound, covered with greenery, is piled up and there is no cross. The writer asked him to bury him as modestly as possible and without any rites.
