The existence and development of Liski is due to the railway, which appeared here in 1870. True, the settlement was then called quite differently - Novopokrovka - and was the most common village in the Voronezh province. But for 150 years the village turned into a city, and a small station - into one of the largest railway junctions of the country. And in fact, wherever you want to go by train from one part of Russia to another, you can almost certainly go there by train going through Liski.

Difficulties of the nomination
During the years of its existence, this settlement changed several names: Novopokrovka already known to us was transformed first into Freedom, then to Liski, and then to the incomprehensible Georgiu-Dej. For 35 years the city had this strange name in honor of the leader of the Communist Party of Romania, who was friendly with the Soviet leadership. In the 90s, the city was returned to the name of Liski, and the locals not without joy forgot about Comrade Deje.
- Take a walk in the railway station where you can buy fresh vegetables, greens, fruits, jam-jam, milk, which are brought to the market by the inhabitants of the surrounding villages. After the global trading networks, this corner of individual merchants looks especially sincere and touching.
- Reserve mineral waters from local sources. Thanks to their medicinal properties, the "Liski Baden-Baden", the sanatorium "Radon" and the sanatorium after them. Tsurupy, there is no shortage of customers.
- Take the electric train to the Divnogorye Museum-Reserve: just half an hour along the way you can enjoy views from the railway bridge across the Don, where the Volga-Don river shipping company's port is located, and the beauty of the local nature.

- the Church of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, created in 1784, is the oldest building preserved since the time of the village of Novopokrovka,
- the F-20 steam locomotive, the same Fedya, named after Felix Dzerzhinsky and issued from 1931 to 1941;
