Makhachkala Airport, or Uytash Airport, is 16 km from Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, and 4 km from Kaspiisk. This is the first class airport that accepts aircraft such as Boeing 737, Il-76, Tu-154, as well as lighter aircraft and helicopters. Civil air flights are made from here, and the airfield is also used by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Russian Federal Security Service.
Until 2011, Makhachkala Airport was the main hub of Dagestan Airlines, now RusLine is based here.
Today Uytash airspace direct flights to Moscow (by Gazprom Avia, VIM-Avia, UTair and Yakutia), to Istanbul, Dubai and St. Petersburg (by Rusline) and to Aktau (SCAT). The plans to open flights to Sochi, Vladikavkaz, Minvody and Astrakhan. New aircraft are being purchased, negotiations are under way with various airlines. How to get here
From Uytash airport to Makhachkala you can take a taxi, but you need to take into account that drivers often recruit a full car of passengers, therefore will have to wait a little. Otherwise, the trip will cost you several times more. There are no shuttle buses to Makhachkala, but they go to Kaspiisk, from where you can change the route to Makhachkala.
