Palazzo Publico - the heart of the political life and history of San Marino . This palace stands on Piazza della Libertà , in the same place as the ancient Domus-Comunis Magna , and was originally built approximately between 1380 and 1392 gg . Later it was rebuilt in 1884-1894 biennium . Roman architect Francesco Azzurri . One hundred years later the use of the building ceased to be safe and had to be restored in a complex way; the works were completed in 1996 . Today Palazzo Publico is an official government building and at the same time - the City Hall . Here are state ceremonies, the most important persons are sitting, including the advisers and the congress . The palace can be viewed from the inside, admiring its beautiful interiors and wall paintings, and even climb to the tower .
During the reconstruction of the Azzurri building, stone carvers were handled by local carvers the management of the main mason San Marino . The stone itself was extracted from the caves in Mount Titano . The main part of the building is decorated with dents, like the clock tower that rises above one of the corners . In general, the design of the palace reminds the Florentine palazzo Vecchio, only on a smaller scale . The facade of the palace is richly decorated with numerous symbols: here you can see the arms of the republic and four municipalities (Serravalle, Fiorentino, Montejardino and Faetano), as well as symbols of smaller areas that joined the republic in the future Wii .
The building is supported by three Gothic arches: the central polygonal balcony with two large, ornate windows, dominates the front facade. Between the smaller windows of the mezzanine, the Republican coat of arms is clearly distinguishable. On the tower that is on the left, you can see the images of St. Agates, St. Mariin and St. Leo, that's over the clock. In the corner at the level of the mezzanine there is a bronze statue of St. Mariino. Under the portico, on the right, you can see the marble bust of the architect Azzurri
Inside the palace, just behind the entrance, you can see trophies, inscriptions, coats of arms, decoration elements and busts of famous people (not all of them were citizens San Marino, but all had an impact on the history of the country). The real treasure is the Council Hall, located on the top floor: here you can climb the main staircase. Since 1848, 60 parliamentarians of the council met here. The dominant of the hall is the image of the saint founder surrounded by his followers: peasants, soldiers, women and children.
