Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and Patriarch Kirill of Russia opened a monument in Belgrade to the last Russian emperor, Tsar Nicholas II
At a solemn ceremony the head of Serbia thanked Russia for helping the Serbian people and stressed that fraternal relations between the countries existed and still exist.
Serbian Ambassador to Russia Slavenko Terzic is sure that the opening of the monument testifies to the historical proximity and friendship between the Serbian and Russian peoples. The ambassador also recalled that the last Russian emperor actively assisted Serbia during World War I.
