In connection with the established hot and dry weather, the cost of fruits, so loved by many tourists going to Asia, has increased dramatically. Some types of fruits now cost as much as twice as much.
The most noticeable increase was the usual "not tropical" fruit - such as oranges, apples and pears. However, papaya, pineapple, coconuts and bananas - also began to cost more. The owner of a large chain of fruit stores in Singapore, 54-year-old Yeo Cheng Ho, notes that the popular varieties of apples and pears from China have jumped especially high.
On average, the cost of fresh fruit in connection with the established heat increased by almost 9% in Asia.
