An ancient town located not far from Portorož, from here you can get there in five minutes by bus or even just walk along the sea, in about twenty minutes. Piran once belonged to the Venetian Republic, and this affected his appearance. Here still prevails the color of the Middle Ages: from the old days many monuments of architecture have been preserved. This is the famous church with a tower, and the remains of the fortress wall, and many other great places.

How to get here
By bus from Ljubljana, travel time 2-2, 5 hours or also by bus from the nearby towns on the coast - Isola and Koper (20 minutes).
The city is small, it has a little more than 4000 people, and together with the villages surrounding it, the population reaches 16,000 people. Located on a 30 km stretch of the Slovenian coast of the Adriatic, Piran is 7 km from Croatia and 23 km from Italy.
In Piran there are problems with parking. Travel by car through the streets of the city is impossible. And all because of the fact that many streets of the city are so narrow that it is simply impossible to drive them by car. Therefore, those traveling by car will have to leave their vehicles on one of the parking lots at the entrance to the city, for example, at a bus station. For residents of the big city, this situation seems uncomfortable, but, nevertheless, the lack of transport on city streets makes the city look even more romantic and attractive.

Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Piran
In each country there are cities that are the embodiment of all the basic qualities and properties of the country .Sometimes these cities are not great, but their bright individuality remains in your memory for a long time .In Slovenia, one of these cities is, without a doubt, Piran .Quite a small town, one of the few coastal towns of Slovenia, Piran is located at a distance of a half-hour walk from Portorož .The road itself along the edge of the purest Adriatic Sea, contemplation of lazy waves and plants on the shore will bring a lot of pleasure .And even contemplation of the narrow winding streets of Piran, houses with red tiled roofs, standing close to each other, will not leave anyone indifferent .
The city is beautiful and peculiar. Not being multi-storey, it is very picturesque due to the fact that it climbs the mountain slope with terraces. The building is very dense, and, at times, the roof of one house is the beginning of the courtyard for another. Picturesque cobblestone streets, numerous (because of the relief) stone stairs, southern plants in tubs. The old fortress wall with the towers is turned into a viewing platform, from which the entire city and the bright blue surface of the Adriatic Sea are perfectly visible.
In the city there are two squares, one of them was formed during the Middle Ages, it preserved the distinctive architecture of that period and is one of the main goals of travelers who come to see the city. Not far from the square is St. George's Cathedral, one of the main city attractions. The second square until the 19th century was the harbor area, which crashed into the city very deeply.
