Add a review about the Museum of America in Madrid

The Museum of America in Madrid is one of those museums that can only be found in one specific place. In this case - in Spain. And in such cases it is worth going there, because this is not anywhere else. The Spanish Museum of America has no analogues in Europe. In America there are, and in the North, and in the South, of course, but they are far away. The appearance of such a museum in Spain is quite natural - both the North and South America were discovered by the Spaniards, and in some countries of South America their colonial rule ended only fifty years ago.

This collection was created for a long time, but the museum turned out very good. In Spain, there are a lot of things related to America, prehistoric, old, old and not so the expositions turned out to be big, interesting and of such an order, which nowhere else in Europe can be found.

Weapons of the first Spanish soldiers and first settlers, or European products made on a local scale - all this can be found here. Like the shoes of Mexican cowboys, carbines of robbers and much more.

Exposition

All the halls are divided into five large zones: "Knowledge of America", "Real America", "Society", "Religion" and "Communications ". It sounds at first glance dryish, but in fact it is not. Prevailing here are not modern artifacts, but historical ones. Most of them belong to one of three variants: pre-Columbian, ethnographic and colonial.

Dokolumbov exhibits are mostly obtained from Peru, Mexico and Colombia. Here you can see the figures of Indian deities, decorative and religious objects, ornaments and much more. There are also very ancient objects - made more than a half thousand years ago.

Ethnographic exhibits are devoted to the life of local American tribes. It stores a lot of household items: dishes, weapons, tools, musical instruments, children's toys - anything. There are ancient items here, and there are not so much - for example, traditional headdresses from feathers.

Colonial exhibits reflect the conquest and colonization of America. The weapons of the first Spanish soldiers, the first settlements, local traditional things or European products made on a local scale - all this can be found here. Like the shoes of Mexican cowboys, carbines of robbers and much more to each other.

There are about 25 000 exhibits in the collection. Contemporary items in percentage terms are actually very few. Many interesting things, completely different from what we are used to seeing in European museums. Some of them are unique - there are no analogues even in American countries. A good, original, large museum

This museum has an unusual building. It is built in a neocolonial style especially for this museum and looks like a style not in Europe but in Mexican, Spanish cities or the American baroque version
