Add a review about the ancient city of Olympos

This is the first Lycian city that is mentioned in the annals. It appeared in the 2nd century BC near a small river, not far from modern Kemer. First there lived pirates, and then the land was captured by Roman soldiers and made it part of a huge empire. The ruins of the amphitheater, the ruined bridge and the temple of Hephaestus, the patron of the city, remained in Olympos.

Olympos

In addition, the city remained "hello" from the Byzantine Empire - the ruins of the castle on top of the hill and basilica. Due to the raids of the Arabs Olympos for a long time emptied. He was returned to life by the crusaders, who turned the city into a major shopping center. From the Ottoman Empire in Olympos there were baths.

Today Olympos is a part of the National Park and does not allow a lot of tourists to visit - so that the city does not disappear completely. The city is not very well preserved, it seems, they do not intend to recreate it. But it can climb on ruins and consider monuments from different eras.
