Entertainment, excursions and attractions of Assos
Assos looks as if it does not hurt over time. This effect is achieved by a ban on the construction of new buildings in the harbor area and the use of existing characteristic local stone for the reconstruction of buildings. It seems that the whole city is one big open-air museum.
The ruins of the ancient Greek Acropolis (in the Doric style), which rises 236 meters above sea level, are worth your attention and will give material for the mass of beautiful photographs. Built in 530 BC. e. the temple of Athena in the upper part of the city with a beautiful external colonnade as if will take you to Greece, on the hill you can also consider the ruins of the gymnasium, theater and necropolis. Near the temple is the most beautiful mosque of the times of the Ottoman Empire (14th century). Finally, relax on the beautiful sandy beach of Kadirga Beach and take a dip in the harbor of the ancient Assos.
From Assos it is easy to get to the nearest towns and places of interest. If you book a tour by bus or boat (which will cost you about 15-25 lire) with a guide, you can visit Bergama, Troy, Sacred Spring, Cape Ayvalik, Aphrodite Baths and many other places.
Developments
Every autumn in Assos there is a festival of a modern open-air theater, in which famous bands from all over the world from America to Australia take part.
