You will have a rest in a hotel in Kemer, be sure to rent a bicycle (well or taxi) and head to the ancient city of Phaselis. It is only 10-15 kilometers away, but you will finally understand that Turkey is not only the notorious all inclusive and seals resting on a chaise lounge.

Phaselis was founded in the 7th century BC by colonists from the island of Rhodes offering local residents dried fish instead of the earth.

Phaselis is located in a beautiful place with beaches and picturesque rocks, at the foot of the unique mountain Tahtali (Olympos), the one that Homer described in the legendary "Illyada". In the city harbor there are always many yachts. But the main advantage of the city is its antiquity. According to legend, it was founded in the 7th century BC by colonists from the island of Rhodes. The same legend says that instead of land, the colonists offered dried fish to local residents

The majority of extant ruins belong to the Roman and Byzantine periods. Built on the slope of the acropolis, the Phaselis Theater is small, it is built according to the pattern, today they would say a typical project, an amphitheater of the Hellenistic period. His scene was erected by the Romans, historians say. To the right of the entrance to Phaselis are the oldest walls of the city fortress (3rd century BC), as well as the ruins of a temple or a crypt. On the slopes of the northern harbor you can see a necropolis. If you believe the legends, it is here that Alexander the Great is buried.

The most impressive sight in Phaselis is the aqueduct, an artificial canal that supplied the city with water from a spring on a northern hill

There were three agors in the city: one opposite the theater, The remaining two are on the right side of the main street leading to the southern harbor. Impress the baths, in the area of the city square. Historians believe that the idol of Phaselis was Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war. Scientists suggest that the temple of Athena is still hidden underground, in the area of the acropolis where the forest is growing now.

In Kemer, my family and I visited last summer. My parents have never been to Turkey, and I decided to arrange a holiday for them! For the rest chose the city of Kemer, as parents simply adore the sea in combination with mountain ranges. One of the most memorable excursions we had was a trip to Phaselis. A great impression on me was made by the theater, which belonged to the Byzantine period. It is made of stones, which used to sit instead of the usual shops. While we were driving to Phaselis, I was amazed by an amazing ... Read full review

Of course, in the Bay of Phaselis there are a variety of excursions, both water and land, but perhaps if you have a rest in the Kemer region, it's easiest to go there yourself. We rested in the village of Tekirova, rented bicycles and drove off, did not go very long - about 10 minutes, from Tekirova we went along the road towards Antalya and the indicator of Phaselis can not be missed. The entrance is paid, there is a barrier, but inexpensive, something about 5-10 lira. The place is very picturesque, stunningly clean water, the ruins of the city, ... Read full review

An indelible impression was left after visiting such an attraction in the vicinity of the resort of Kemer, as an antique the city of Phaselis. It is located in a beautiful pine forest on a picturesque peninsula at the foot of Mount Olympos, almost from anywhere through pine branches you can see the gentle sea. Striking with its beauty is the dense tropical vegetation, in which the ruins of the most ancient civilizations are hidden.
It is simply not possible to find a better place for creating a diverse photo shoot. Here and the remains ... Read the full review
