The magic holiday New Year comes to Dnepropetrovsk with the opening of the main city tree. The main tree of the city is one that is installed in the park named after Lazar Globa. The theatrical holiday accompanying the opening, is wide and fun, it usually takes place on Saturday, at the beginning of the third decade of December.
Solemn opening of the district New Year trees usually takes place on the same day and is accompanied by holidays with the participation of people's groups. New Year's Eve is felt everywhere: New Year's entourage is present in the decorations of shop windows, in the center of the city buildings are beautifully illuminated, Christmas decorations and holiday goods are sold everywhere. New Year mood for Dnipropetrovsk residents and guests is supported by local radio and television programs.
In the 20-th of December New Year's fairs begin to work in all areas of the city (opening dates and working hours are determined by the district administration) .The assortment of goods is extensive .Tourists are interested, first of all, a gift assortment, and citizens carefully consider the counters offering to the festive table products at producer prices .During the weekend, the barkers are actively working, however, there is no special need for them: the offered goods and products are so diverse and attractive that they advertise themselves .In stores, there is a special demand for what can be donated, and what can decorate a Christmas tree, home and yourself .
Restaurants and clubs of the city offer on the New Year days various versions of show programs and a special menu, which includes dishes typical for European Christmas and New Year holidays, as well as Ukrainian traditional dishes. It will not be a problem to find a place for a romantic candlelit evening. But reserve a table for New Year's Eve in advance: free places in popular institutions in the city end at the end of November.
The very New Year's Eve is usually held in the city: fireworks, congratulations, champagne from plastic cups are the most common attributes of festivities. I must say that the city administration is sympathetic to the desire of many townspeople and tourists to go out this night to the streets and squares of the city and plunge into the atmosphere of celebration and fun: fixed-route taxis work almost till the morning on a special New Year's schedule.
