The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine made a proposal to prohibit Russians from crossing the border on civil passports. Interfax-Ukraine reports that the proposal to let citizens of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine only on foreign passports is under consideration of the Cabinet of Ministers, but the timing of the adoption of a possible amendment is not specified.
The new resolution provides for a partial suspension of the agreement with the Russian Federation on visa-free entry. The Ukrainian side believes that entry on foreign passports will allow to establish an effective mechanism for monitoring the stay of Russians on the territory of Ukraine.
