What is the name of the most famous bridge in San Francisco?
San Francisco lies on the northern edge of the peninsula of the same name. The need to connect it with the Marin district, also located in the state of California, was long overdue and at the beginning of 1933 the construction of the bridge was started. It ended in 1937, on May 27.
The authors of the project of this hanging masterpiece of engineering thought are Charles Ellis, mathematician, Irving Morrow, architect, and Joseph Strouss, an engineer. It's unfair, but on the sign decorating the bridge, the first developer is not listed.
A bit of technical data. The total length of the Golden Gate is 2737 meters, more than 1,280 meters of them pass over the water. Supports rise above the water of the Golden Gate strait at 230 meters, and the suspension bridge pavement - at 67 meters. Vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians can move around it on their own lanes
