There are more than one bridge in San Francisco, but everyone always remembers the main symbol of the city - the bright orange bridge Golden Gate Bridge. Describe it is difficult, not enough words. It is beautiful in any weather and time of day: when it shines in the morning sun, it seems to hover in the fog during the day, or lights up at night.

San Francisco lies on the northern edge of the peninsula of the same name. The need to connect it with the Marin district, also located in the state of California, was long overdue and at the beginning of 1933 the construction of the bridge was started. It ended in 1937, on May 27.

The authors of the project of this hanging masterpiece of engineering thought are Charles Ellis, mathematician, Irving Morrow, architect, and Joseph Strouss, an engineer. It's unfair, but on the sign decorating the bridge, the first developer is not listed.

A bit of technical data. The total length of the Golden Gate is 2737 meters, more than 1,280 meters of them pass over the water.
